Tor Browser

The Android application Tor Browser is the version for smartphones and tablets that allows us to access the Internet whilst protecting our privacy.

If you've been following technological news lately, you'll have noticed that privacy is an issue that affects many users, especially since many large companies have decided to treat us as products. The latter has led to the rise in popularity of certain tools that ensure user anonymity, such as the Tor browser.

The official Tor browser for Android

Tor Browser finally has its own app for smartphones and tablets. Orfox, also developed by The Tor Project, appeared on the market a few years ago, but now we can use an official version that emulates on our mobile devices the browser that we could already use on Windows, Mac and Linux.

This browser allows us to access websites that mask our IP so that we create a fake identity when it comes to accessing a server and leaving our trail. It also offers us the possibility to connect to the Tor network with the following features and functions:

• Sandboxes websites we visit to prevent trackers from tracking our browsing habits. Cookies are deleted as soon as we end our session.
• Hide our browsing history so no one knows what pages we've visited.
• Anti-fingerprinting protection to prevent our device's information from being intercepted.
• Multi-layer encryption to hide our traffic.
• Access to websites blocked by our carrier.

The only downside is that it's an alpha version, still under development, that requires installing Orbot, the proxy app used to connect to the Tor network. We expect the release of the stable version of this browser to fix this dependency.
