Niantic gives us NBA All-World, an augmented reality basketball game where you have to go through the streets of your city to challenge other players.

Play basketball in augmented reality

Studio Niantic, creators of social phenomena like Pokémon Go and Pikmin Bloom, enters the sports arena with this new mobile adventure that connects the digital world with the real world. On this occasion, with the geolocation function of our mobile, we'll become basketball players and walk the streets of our city in search of NBA stars to challenge them.

Sporting and social experiences at a high level

NBA All-World is a basketball-inspired 3D augmented reality game for mobile devices. Officially licensed by the NBA, it features ambassadors like Jordan Poole and Andrew Wiggins.

The mechanics are similar to Pokémon Go, but instead of PokéStops and Gyms, there are Drop Zones and Training Areas. At these hangouts, you can get items like accessories, sneakers, and clothing from real brands.

We'll also find two mini-games (three-point shooting competition and 1v1) and basketball players that we can challenge to add to our team. And of course, by downloading the APK file we can also compete with other players on more than 100,000 courses around the world.

In short, the idea is very similar to that of Pokémon Go and just as promising. Also, it is expected that future updates will include new augmented reality features. The only downside is that you need a fairly powerful smartphone to avoid lag issues. The good news is that the game is completely free to play (with in-app purchases of course).
