While some of you may think that Pokémon have recently become enraged due to the frenzy fueled by Pokémon GO, the truth is that this frenzy has been going on for quite some time. There have been all sorts of applications about these creatures for years.

From an Android smartphone or tablet and by simply installing the appropriate APK, you'll be able to have a great time with Pokémon Showdown!, a simulator of battles and battles between teams of Pokémon. A webapp version appeared some time ago that allows us to play from browsers on our PC or Mac desktop, but the mobile version allows us to play comfortably from anywhere.

The app allows us to choose a battle to participate in or let the game randomly assign a battle. We can look at other players' battles or create our own team to engage in battle and then share the battle with other users.

• Installing the app using the APK file requires enabling the "Unknown Sources" option in Settings > Applications.
