Amazon Prime Video is the platform for watching online series and movies via streaming, developed and maintained by the e-commerce giant with the intention of competing with other major companies in this sector, such as HBO or Netflix. It comes bundled with an official application for Android smartphones and tablets, so we can watch all our favorite series and movies directly from our phone, wherever we are.

How Amazon Prime Video works

It's really easy. Just download the APK from Google Play, enter your Amazon Prime credentials, and start exploring the content on offer, neatly organized into three different tabs: Home, Series, and Movies.

Simply select the cover of one of the available multimedia content and start playing the series or movie in the quality you want (there are three available), provided you have previously registered for the service. We also have the possibility of downloading content to watch offline when we don't have an internet connection available.

The truth is that at the moment it doesn't look like this service can stand up to Netflix or HBO, mainly because of its rather small catalog (we hope it will expand in the future) and the lack of some really basic features such as the possibility of Mirroring content to a larger screen using Chromecast, although this feature has been implemented on Apple TV for iOS devices like iPhone and iPad.

How much does Amazon Prime Video cost?

Well, in a nod to other movie and series streaming services that have come out recently, Amazon's video platform is offering all new subscribers a free month's trial. However, in order to enjoy these 30 days for free, you will have to enter the credit card details in the application because once this period is over, the online shopping giant will automatically start charging you 19.95 euros per year, which is a lot less than HBO or Netflix. However, if you are already an Amazon Premium member, you do not need to pay any additional fee.
