Every now and then an app for editing photos or creating funny videos appears and takes the smartphones of millions of users around the world by storm. We've already seen it in cases like Face App or Reface and now it's Wombo's turn.

This is an application that uses artificial intelligence to generate the so-called deepfakes from a selfie. We can take it on the spot or choose it from our image gallery. And for what purpose? It's about nothing more than the production of a short video (maximum 30 seconds long) in which the depicted person sings a song and moves to the rhythm of the song. The lips and the rest of the face are synchronized.

However, this is not about the code contained in the AI ​​development, but also about the user interface and the process for generating the videos. You don't have to be a professor of applied physics at Stanford University to use this app. All you have to do is take a selfie or select a photo, set the size and choose one of the songs to make your photo dance: Rick Astley, Vengaboys, James Brown, Michael Jackson, etc. Several songs are available to make a fool out of you. You can then download the video to your phone or share it with your friends (it's no fun if you don't share this nonsense with someone, right?)

The results can be improved in some cases, we suspect this is an aspect that the developers still need to improve, but it's definitely fun. And as for the data being shared... well, those responsible are Canadian, so you might not have to worry about some shady management of your personal data in Eastern Europe, just its use by the NSA or who knows what do an American secret service.
