Among Us is a multiplayer game and a sci-fi adventure. The story takes place in a large spaceship with an imposter hiding among its crew. Our mission, like that of the other players, is to find out who this is.

In order to identify him, we must complete various tasks before the upcoming interstellar journey that the ship will undertake. These should help us to find the alleged traitor who kills crew members and carries out sabotage actions. In fact, avoiding contact with the other players is the best option, since any of them could be the saboteur.

Our character is controlled with a joystick and we let him drive around inside the ship. For this we can be helped by the map, which will show us the different areas, as well as the places where we can carry out the tasks. At the same time, we hold meetings with our work colleagues, where we vote on the people we suspect of being saboteurs.

Although this game only came out in 2018, it has become a massively followed game since mid-2020 after becoming popular with some notable Twitch users. In addition, the gameplay allowed its players to socialize at a time when social distancing and lockdown were necessary.

Constant updates to keep the hype going

Of course, the high level of community engagement has weakened over the months. Still, it continues to ride the crest of the wave thanks to its constant improvements and updates.

With the sequel Among Us 2 already in full development, the studio decided to take a step back and focus on the improvements of the first version that worked so well. Over time, they've allowed up to 15 players in the same game, added new game maps, developed the version for Nintendo Switch (and is expected to appear on other consoles as well), and added new colors and cosmetics for the characters. Also, improvements and new features continue to be added with new roles, achievements and even new game modes like Hide and Seek.
