Download Super Mario Run free for Android smartphones to make the most of the first mobile game by Nintendo starring the most famous whiskered plumber.

Mario's auto runner game is now landing on Android

Since September 2016, when Tim Cook and Shigeru Miyamoto took the stage at Apple's annual keynote to announce the arrival of Super Mario on mobile devices, the hype surrounding Super Mario Run, the first game developed by Nintendo for smartphones and tablets, hasn't stopped to grow.

The climax came in December when, after months of waiting, iOS users were finally allowed to download the game to their iPhone and iPad. And since then we've all been asking ourselves the same question: when will the Android version come out? Well, the wait is over because you no longer need to pre-register on Google Play to receive notifications of the release of Super Mario Run for Android: it's here and it's free. It has met the deadlines foreseen and has been available for download since March 2017. So forget about borrowing your friend's iPhone or watching delicious gameplays on YouTube because now you can play it on your own device.

What does Super Mario Run look like for Android?

Now that we can download Nintendo's latest hit and switch sides to Pokémon GO and the portable game console, we can stop imagining how it will be and try all its features for ourselves.

First and foremost, following the iOS version, it's a free game to download, although "free" isn't quite true since we'll have to make an in-app purchase to get the full game. So to play all 24 levels we have to pay a price of almost 10 euros.

How to play this auto runner is same as iPhone. We can move the most famous plumber in video game history with just one hand, making him run and jump in search of his beloved Princess Peach, collecting coins along the way, as well as playing the other game modes available, as explained below.

Once you have bought the 24 levels of the 6 worlds you can unlock new characters to play with: Luigi, Yoshi and Toadette. You move differently than Mario, so you have to learn new controls. You'll also find seven new types of levels, as well as more decorations and buildings for your kingdom to expand.

Three game modes

This version of "Super Mario" also comes with the same three game modes available for iPhone and iPad:

  1. Word Tour: It's the main mode in which we'll have to try to complete the 6 worlds of the game divided into 24 worlds to save Peach from Bowser and we'll do it in an environment where we can't stop run or jump.
  2. Toad Rally: It's Super Mario Run's multiplayer mode in which we can face off against friends and unknown users trying to beat their score with stylish moves and stunts to earn coins and toads.
  3. Kingdom Builder: You can build a completely customized world with the coins and toads you earn in the other two modes. It's a free mode where you can use up to 100 different elements to create and construct.

How is it played?

There isn't much mystery, remember that it's an auto-runner and not a platformer and that it's a Mario game. Therefore, you'll run forward non-stop, trying to avoid all sorts of enemies and obstacles, tapping on the screen to make the famous plumber jump.

Depending on how you tap the screen, the jumps get longer or shorter, and you can collect coins along the way, including five utility coins in each level. Peach is waiting for you, so what are you waiting for to save her?
