Nowadays, a large part of our life is focused on the activities we do on our mobile devices. Therefore, it is important to protect ourselves from theft, accidents or violations of our privacy. Google, Apple, and Amazon have done a pretty good job of dealing with this threat, at least as far as information security goes, but we might not quite trust them when it comes to handling the privacy of the files they store.

A server to store our most valuable files

We find an alternative in ownCloud, a service that allows us to run a server where we can store and manage our information. Thanks to cloud technology, we have a storage location where we can store files such as videos, images, contacts or documents and access them at any time from different devices. We can thus protect ourselves from possible damage on a physical data medium or even protect our privacy.

The app offers a sober and functional navigation interface that offers both the possibility of viewing what we save (it has a video player, image viewer, text file reader...) and of editing it. This online file manager conveniently groups all the contents according to their format and even allows us to share them with other people, setting access restrictions.
