Search the Internet faster with the Yandex virtual assistant for Android

Artificial intelligence has entered mobile telephony at the user level. We've already seen that with virtual assistants like Siri for the iPhone or Sherpa, Google Now or Cortana for Android. The Russian technology company Yandex, one of the most important in the country, has also launched its own search engine that uses the functions of its search engine. We're talking about Yandex Start, formerly Yandex.Search, a service that provides users with everything they want or need from Internet search, in advance.

Yandex Alice: the language assistant that solves your problems

Alice is the name of the Yandex voice assistant that you can download in APK format for Android. Like the other assistants mentioned above, it is able to solve the user's everyday problems when working with his smartphone. That means it finds answers to everyday questions, such as how to get to a place, the result of your soccer team, the weather report or the most important news of the day.

It features an advanced AI system that not only offers a set of predefined answers, but is able to improvise during the conversation and adapt to your needs on the fly. Here are some of the functions that Yandex artificial intelligence can perform:

• Voice search: find websites, images, videos...
• Check the weather forecast in detail.
• Follow all breaking Russian news.
• Access to online TV from free-to-air channels. Look up the TV schedule.
• Find nearby places like ATMs or pharmacies.
• Receive advance notifications about relevant information, e.g. B. about difficult or extreme weather conditions.
• Check the map to see if there is public transport.
• Get articles that might interest you based on the websites you visit.
• Find the supermarkets with the best offers and discounts for your purchase.

The problem? If you're not fluent in Russian, you won't be able to enjoy Alice for now... it's not translated into English or Spanish yet. In the meantime, then, we can continue to rely on Android and the other assistants offered by companies like Google and Microsoft.
