Cardboard Camera adapts your Android's camera to Google's virtual reality headset to be able to enjoy a 360º environment and sound with your phone.

Turn your phone into a VR photo camera

The Google Cardboard is an invention of the search engine manufacturer that allows the user to enjoy virtual reality glasses with their mobile phone in a simple and inexpensive way. It is a simple cardboard holder into which the mobile phone can be inserted. With the appropriate apps, content can then be played back in VR format.

Your virtual reality camera

Cardboard Camera turns your smartphone into a photo camera with which you can take pictures that you can later view in 360 format. This means that the image stays fixed, but you can explore it by turning your head as if the image is wrapping around you.

The app is very easy to use and has a number of sample images to which you can add your own. All you have to do is follow the given instructions: press to take a photo and move the phone sideways to capture a 360-degree image. The app can also record sound.

It was developed with extremely precise imaging technology to achieve a very realistic 3D effect that gives the impression that objects are actually in the distance.

Requirements and further information:

  • Minimum operating system requirements: Android 4.4.
  • The app offers in-app purchases.
