Lyft is an application that works similarly to Uber offering us a car transport service with a driver that you can order from your Android smartphone.

Passenger transportation services, which are an alternative to traditional taxis, are becoming increasingly popular. Professionals in this sector complain about how easy it is to work in an unregulated environment, which has led to strikes and some riots.

The main player in this controversy is usually Uber, perhaps because it's the most popular service of this type, but there are others like Cabify or this Lyft that we're introducing to you, a North American service that works almost identically to Uber.

How does Lyft work?

The Android app of this service works as follows:

1. Step 1: Tell the application your location to order a transport.
2. Step 2: Enter your destination and check how much the trip may cost.
3. Step 3: Your transport will arrive in a few minutes depending on the distance.
4. Step 4: Pay in the application with PayPal, credit card or via a link to Apple Pay or Google Wallet.
5. Step 5: Rate your driver.

The application was developed in San Francisco and has a large user base in the US with over 18 million trips per month. In other countries it is not so popular yet, although it is gradually expanding and starting to compete with other similar services.

As a transport option, it offers you four different types of services:

• Line: the cheapest variant that brings drivers and passengers together with the same destination.
• Basic: the classic service where the driver comes and takes you from A to B.
• Plus: for customers who need a 6-seater car.
• Premier: for customers who want a luxury vehicle.

Now you can download Lyft and use it as an alternative to Uber to save money when it comes to taking a cab.
