SEGA's Comix Zone has been released for Android within the collection of classic titles of the Japanese company remastered for modern mobile devices.

Back in the 20th century, for those of us who grow a few gray hairs and have a horrible headache after one beer too many, saw the 21st century full of futuristic ideas, probably because of all the sci-fi movies we watched silver suits, flying cars, virtual reality everywhere... However, none of us could have imagined that we would be able to play 16-bit video console games with sophisticated smartphones and tablets.

And that's probably due to the craze for all things retro (especially since senior positions in video game development companies are occupied by nostalgic 80s and 90s lads and gals), and also because SEGA (and other companies like Nintendo) have decided to relaunch their great catalogue.

And that's where SEGA Forever comes in, a collection of video console games like the Master System and the Mega Drive that Sony would have liked to have had on its PS1, PS2, PS3 or PS4. So, thanks to the Japanese company, we can once again enjoy classic SEGA games such as Sonic, Phantasy Star II, Altered Beast or the sensational Comix Zone.

The latter is a brilliant beat'em up that you could probably already play on your PC, and basically about beating up your enemies, like in Shinobi or Double Dragon, but with a particular scenario: this Game takes place in a comic.

We had to move through different comic strips with our main character and fight against all sorts of enemies drawn in real time especially for the occasion. If you played it then you don't need any further introduction, and if you haven't then there's not much more to explain, the formula is absolutely unbeatable.

So once again assume the role of Sketch Turner, the comic artist trapped in one of his creations, and face off against the enemies to put this nightmare behind you. For this purpose you can use the following functions:

• Battle against enemies drawn in real time in each comic.
• Various super powers and combat maneuvers.
• Use all kinds of weapons: grenades, pistols, knives...
• Search for hidden objects with the help of your pet rat Roadkill.
• Gradually improve your fighting skills.
• Save your game progress whenever you want.
• You don't have to play online: it also works without an internet connection.

This game was released for SEGA video consoles and PC in 1995, although it was later released for the Game Boy Advance as well. Besides this Android APK, there are currently also versions for Windows (on Steam, no need to dig through abandonware) and iPhone too, and it still preserves all the jokes and cheats that you use just like in the original game .
