Just a Line is the augmented reality application for Android that allows us to draw and create sketches in real time on the images that you generate.

Google's app for drawing with augmented reality

Augmented Reality, commonly abbreviated as AR after Wikipedia, is the term that defines the vision of a physical environment in the real world by means of an electronic device. This device adds virtual information to the physical information or image, all in real time.

Google has been experimenting in this field for quite some time and although some of its inventions have failed, like the famous Google Glass, it has managed to apply its advances to other developments, as is the case with this Just a Line for Android.

Draw and sketch in real time

The app allows us to activate our smartphone's camera and take pictures while we draw on it. Then the recording can be converted into a short video showing us the different sketches in the image.

As already mentioned, this application is a result of the experiments developed by Google in the field of augmented reality, since it has a laboratory dedicated exclusively to AR. In the case of this app, they used the ARCore SDK, a toolset that allows developers to create various augmented reality experiences.

With that in mind, the only downside is that these apps aren't accessible to everyone as they usually require the latest Android versions. In fact, this Just a Line requires Android 7.0 to work.

If you have an Android phone that meets the requirements to install the APK, we recommend that you download the installation file to make the most of a different drawing and augmented reality experience.

Requirements and further information:

  • Minimum operating system requirements: Android 7.0.
