Google Authenticator increases the security of your Google user account by generating a verification code that has to be provided with your password.

Your Google account, much safer with two-step verification

To increase security when accessing your Google user account on mobile devices, the search engine giant offers us Google Authenticator, which is based on the creation of two-step verification codes.

What is two-step verification and how does it work?

What is that? Still don't know what 2-Step Verification is? It is a system that, when logging into an account, forces the user to perform a second verification step, in addition to the traditional password, using a code generated by the app.

It works like this:

  1. Step 1: Sign in to Google and enter your username and password as usual.
  2. Step 2: This app allows you to request a second code that you have to enter every time you try to log in.
  3. Step 3: You can mark a device as trusted so you don't have to enter the code every time you use it. In any case, this does not leave you unprotected, as you will be asked for these codes when accessing from another device.

Once you've created the code, you'll be prompted to enter the code you created when you try to access your user account from any device.

This application has all of the following features:

  • Create verification codes that work without a data connection.
  • Ability to use the app with different providers and accounts.
  • Compatibility with Android Wear.
  • Allows automatic configuration based on a QR code.
