Instant messaging has its own name on Android: WhatsApp Messenger. Send messages, share files, make video calls, and more from the same application

The number one instant messaging app

There are only a few inventions that really transform our daily lives. But one of them is clearly WhatsApp. Thanks to the instant messaging application par excellence, we are connected to our friends and family 24 hours a day via our smartphone.

But the functions of this application go far beyond simply exchanging messages, although that was its original purpose. By downloading and installing the APK file on our Android phone, we can access a whole ecosystem of communication options, from messaging, calling, voice memos and video calls, to sharing audio, video and image files or posting status updates.

And the most important thing is that it is a very easy to use tool. All you need is a phone number to identify yourself with, and end-to-end encryption secures all communications.

What can you do in WhatsApp Messenger?

  • Write messages to individuals or groups or make end-to-end encrypted calls and video calls.
  • Call or video call up to eight people for free, even on slow connections.
  • Send audio messages (voice memos) with the touch of a button and record for as long as you need.
  • Set a profile picture that all contacts can see and everyone else's too.
  • Add hundreds of emojis, stickers or GIFs to conversations. There are dozens of sticker packs to download and the GIFs section includes a search engine within Giphy.
  • Create status messages with text, photos, videos and GIFs that appear for all or selected contacts for 24 hours and then disappear.
  • Send messages to multiple contacts at once with the broadcast list feature.
  • Format messages: bold, italic and strikethrough.
  • Share gallery images, audio files, photos, videos, contacts or your own location at a specific moment or in real time.
  • Photos (both front and rear cameras) right in the application and share instantly.
  • Quote previous messages to reply to a specific comment.
  • Mute groups to avoid disruption for a specified time (8 hours, 1 week, or forever).
  • Mention members of a group with @[name] so that they receive messages even if the group is muted.
  • Using a checking system with checkboxes, check whether the contacts have read the messages (1 gray tick: sent
  • Log in to the web version by pointing the phone camera at the QR code displayed on the PC screen.

Many other apps have tried to oust it from its privileged position, but they all fell by the wayside: WeChat, Viber, LINE, Telegram, etc. With its 2 billion users in more than 180 countries, it is absolutely unrivaled.

On the other hand, despite the many functions, many users still want more, e.g. B. a more customizable interface, better quality when sending files, the ability to use the app with two phone numbers or better data protection. This is why, over the years, developers unrelated to WhatsApp have created their own MODs that can also be found on Malavida, such as WhatsApp Plus, GBWhatsApp or YoWhatsApp and many more options. Of course, WhatsApp LLC (Facebook, Inc.) doesn't like that very much and interferes from time to time to make it difficult to use. So we still recommend using the official service or an alternative of the likes of Telegram, which is also very interesting.
