Twitter Lite is the official client of the microblogging social network for low-end mobile devices that reduces the consumption of resources on Android.

Official lite version of Twitter with less resource consumption

Any Twitter user on Android who has downloaded the official client will soon have noticed how their data plan and battery life seem to be draining faster than ever. Well, in the face of these users, the blue bird company decided to release a lighter version of their app: Twitter Lite.

The lighter version of the social network

To be able to follow all your favorite accounts and handles, including all the unfortunate comments made on Trump's official profile, there's no excuse to do it through the official Android app. The Lite version offers us all the basic functions but in an optimized way for phones with fewer possibilities (because not everyone has a Samsung Galaxy S8).

So, just like Zuckerberg did with Facebook Lite, we can now use an app that won't shake our data usage or battery life. In fact, we find all these functions and features in this app:

  • Optimization for 2G and 3G networks.
  • Minimizing mobile data consumption, allowing us to download only the images and videos we really want to see.
  • Requires less than 2MB of disk space.
  • Check your schedule and interact by replying, liking or tweeting just as if you were in the web version or the classic app.
  • Explore trending topics and the most popular hashtags.
  • Send messages and chat privately with your friends, followers or any official account that allows you. Bored when WhatsApp is not available? Now you know what to do.
  • Customize your profile with a picture, description and location.
  • Check your activity history, e.g. B. Tweets, retweets and multimedia content that you have liked or shared.
  • Configure your account as private.
  • Receive notifications of any social network activity that may affect you (follows, mentions, retweets, likes...).

But now comes the best part. This app is intended for low-end phones to be used on 2G and 3G data networks. So why the hell do I need Android 5.0 to use it?

What's new in the latest version?

  • The developers of the app didn't specify what changes were made to the last version.

Requirements and further information:

  • Minimum operating system requirements: Android 5.0.
