Google's new file manager for Android

Google's new file manager for Android is called Files by Google. For now, it's only available as a beta version, but you can download its APK to try it out, provided you're on Lollipop or later.

Far beyond classic file management

In this file manager we can find all the usual functions of this type of tool. In other words, everything we need to access the folders of our device, be it a smartphone or a tablet, to transfer files, create folders, copy documents...

But it also includes other features that we hadn't seen before in Android's native application, such as the ability to send data between two devices that are physically nearby. For this purpose we would have to create a user that other mobiles can connect to, provided that we grant the necessary permissions.

As for the design, we can see that it has followed other applications developed by this company, such as Google Photos for example. Thanks to the latter, in the first place, we can view all the files we want, depending on how we have organized them, paying particular attention to the larger and heavier files.

The application has been designed to assist the user in maintaining their phone. That's why it includes different types of alerts that warn us when we're running out of disk space, when we have applications that we haven't used for more than 30 days, or when we're about to download large files.
