Carrier Services is the application developed by Google to allow mobile devices running on Android and connected to phone data networks to make the most of them. It is a component that keeps all the specifications of the so-called IMS architecture up to date, supporting data, voice and multimedia traffic.

This means that it will not be the manufacturers or carriers who will have to make a device compatible with the latest network technologies: the process will be much easier since it will be Google who will do it through Google Play as if it were a normal application reaching more and more devices. However, this prevents those users who use Android without using Google, although they are a minority.

Again, this carrier services app provides support to improve Android Messages features. This is the operating system's own messaging application, similar to Apple's iMessage for iOS, which uses the RCS communication standard. The latter allows us, for example, to send images or group chats without needing an internet connection. However, that doesn't mean that if you have both apps installed, you'll be able to use these features: only if our carrier accepts.
